Following up on the song 「FAKE IDOL」, and being the 2nd song in the album 「Counterfeit」, the mood of the song takes a deep dive raising a sadistic(?) vibe of idol domination – imagine as if an idol (or perhaps the fate of being one) is a last boss of an RPG game or something. The tune of this song is REALLY CATCHY at the chorus, and it feels like it wishes to dominate the senses of the listener to keep it on loop. I really enjoy the way they tried to mix electronic and dubstep(?) into the melody. The fact that the tension in the music doesn’t really die down even at the end keeps listeners on their toes.

I’ll admit right here and now, that I don’t really recommend the translated lyrics I have made for this version, as of this date, even after thinking through it for at least half a day, over separate days. It’s worse than the one I did for “Phosphorescence” or “Impulse” sung by Itsuki Natsume because of how the verses don’t really make sense to me the more I try to read into it and translate.
So for anyone reading this preamble, you might just want to consider skipping reading this post altogether.

With that one sentence summary, this post will present the attempted translation of one of Nakuru Aitsuki’s newest songs titled “FAKE IDOL” from her album titled 「Counterfeit」. This album heavily touches the topic of the false image idols/influencers project in their profession and social media outlets, and how everything on the surface aren’t what they really seem.

JtP: [夏央] Summer lights

Nao’s (夏央) album titled 「サマーライト」(Summer Lights) will be released in the upcoming M3 Autumn fair on 30th October 2022. Alongside a completed XFD release, Nao also uploaded a full MV for the song 「サマーライト」which has the same title as the album. This post will share the translation attempt of this song.

「サマーライト」is the final (8th) song of the album which tells the story of the encounter of the boy (Aru) and girl (Yori). Oh right, now there’s Meme too! Meme’s a cute little fluffy… … (animal of some kind?). I have previously tried to translate the 4th song titled 「涙の対価」 which portrayed a much more solemn melody (reflecting the state of depression and the glimmer of hope expressed by the song).

Oh wow, a touhou song that makes a reference to Mahjong.
At last a Shoujo Fractal / Yuuhei Satellite touhou song that isn’t about love (lol).

This one is rather easy to translate, and makes for a rather fast translation. It’s been a while since I translated Shoujo Fractal songs (once in a while, something really loop-worthy comes out from them. This time is one of those times).

JtP: [優莉] Side Profile

優莉 (Yūri / Tsunchaka) will be releasing a full album titled 「なないろメモリー」!!!
For those who have seen my previous translation post of her song of the same title (なないろメモリー), this particular song 「よこがお」(Side Profile) will be the 3rd song in the album listing.

「よこがお」expresses the young innocent love of couples (Ah… Youth.). I think it is done really nicely with the animation that was made in the video together with the song.
If you have some spare time, do watch the MV as the song plays!

You know, side profiles are one of my weakness, be it irl or 2d characters. There’s just some sort of sincere and yet charming aura to it. So I really enjoy how the song and melody was written by 優莉 here.

JtP: [HACHI] Summer Lantern

It’s no longer summer, and the Obon (お盆) + Toro Nagashi (灯籠流し) festivals are long over, but I just want to put out a translation of this song from HACHI that describes just this yearly event of sending off one’s ancestors. It is actually kind of similar to the “Hungry Ghost Festival” (中元节), in which I used to pray to my ancestors with my parents to welcome them back and send them off (but not anymore now though.. I don’t remember when exactly we stopped).

Some time ago I did a translation for the 6th and last song of 藍月なくる(Nakuru Aitsuki)’s 『Indigrotto』 album titled 「Rest in Peace my Dear」 . In this translation post, I would like to introduce a utaite called りりぴ (-LiLiPi-) that I’ve followed for a while because of how good her vocals is for a variety of vocaloid songs that she chooses to cover. It was only after a couple of songs after when I realized… This person is insanely fast at covering songs that are being released by vocaloid producers. It’s not even an understatement. In just 1-3 days, she releases a cover of her own… with her own vocals… mixed… WITH FULL ILLUSTRATIONS AND ORIGINAL MV.

Like what? How???
She calls such cover releases her “Super-Fast Cover” (最速カバー) upload and she is not wrong, but even with such speed the quality never lacks in any form, which makes them even more impressive.

Though this song “I♡” has reached over a million views on youtube, and with the quality + speed of her cover releases, I personally find it rather surprising that she has a considerably smaller subscriber fanbase than I would expect. I may not be one to care about numbers, but if you do enjoy the song of hers that I’m introducing here, perhaps you might want to stay tune to more of her releases (both past and future ones) on her channel.

JtP: [nayuta] Tied

nayuta recently held her 15th anniversary and birthday live performance titled 「青の結び目」or “Blue Knots” on 27th September 2022. Celebrating her journey this far as an utaite, of her existence and her growth since the Nico Nico Douga days, to be able to persist and keep doing what she love – Singing and composing her own songs – it was a very special day to commemorate her anniversary and to thank her supporters.

Those who know will know, that nayuta has put in a lot of effort and been doing a lot of work to compose new songs, and to organize events after events, despite juggling lots of things at the same time. So, it is really impressive that she is able to do all of this, out of her love of singing, and her love for her fans.

To finish off her anniversary celebration, nayuta wrote this very emotional song 「結い結われ」or “Tied” (Or “Tied Together“) – A very fitting song title that follows up her live performance (and also her other song) 青の結び目. It is a single that she wrote specifically for her birthday. It is a slow song, but it possesses a very powerful and moving melody which I recommend anyone to listen to it. (One day, when my time is up, I’d like this song to play for me)
